Painting buffalo check was fairly easy. Instead of reinventing the wheel, we followed Curbly’s how to paint buffalo check tutorial. I have to admit during step three, I needed another brain to help me figure it out, lol. Math was never my strong suit!
We added some fun corner brackets to dress it up along with our favorite farmhouse wire hooks.
So what style will you paint YOUR wood stocking holder? And what will YOU fill it with?

The buffalo check is wonderful. You have me thinking its time to do stockings again.
Hi there! I just made this for my daughter and absolutely love it! Did you put any type of weight in the box to prevent it from flipping once the stockings are filled? Thanks!
Hi Jeanne! Yes, we definitely put weight on it. We filled the bottom with some bean bags then placed our decor over it. We’ll update the post, great question!
The buffalo check makes your stocking holder so much fun and unexpected. Lo-ove it! Congrats, you’re featured at the This Is How We Roll Link Party.
Oh thank you, Susan!!
That is adorable!!! I so miss having a mantle. Now that we have a wood stove, it’s not too easy to decorate for the holidays around that. :/
This is such an amazing stocking hanger! And you stockings are lovely, too!
Thank you so much!!
